Family Barbecue

My family and I have recently moved in to a house that's closer to town. I didn't want to at first, but I grew to love the idea the moment we transferred. The house isn't new, actually, the original owner is Dad's aunt. I think this is one of the reason's why it felt like home the moment I stepped inside. It reminds me a lot of the house I grew up in when I was younger.

Because of the bigger space, I've been bugging my parents to throw a house warming party. I always wanted to host a party, but our other house wasn't accessible to guests and it was too small. They assured me that we can have one in time, but they did allow me to start a family barbecue. The idea of having one always excited me, hence, I was really giddy when the day finally arrived. N and I bought marinated pork belly from a local meat shop. I wanted to do everything from scratch, but we were pressed for time and Dad requested that we buy meat that was ready for grilling.

N saved us from eating possibly burned or undercooked meat because he manned the grill instead of me. I have no talent whatsoever when it comes to cooking meat, so I left that with the expert. Aside from the pork, I also decided to grill some of my favorite veggies so that we could have a balanced meal.

We're definitely doing it again. Maybe next time, I could try making my own marinade. It's going to be hard to top the one that we bought though. It was so good that I didn't even need sauce to eat it with. I'm a picky eater, you see. I tend to want to pair everything with sauce or soup because I don't like eating food that's too dry. If you were seated with us during dinner, all you could hear were praises and satisfied "Mmm" sounds. Really, just look at that meat. It's sinful.
