Post-Christmas Update

To be honest, there's not much for me to share. I'm sure the things that have been keeping me occupied are the same as everybody else. Lately, I've just been trying to enjoy the time with loved ones and the good food. I mean, what's Christmas without food, right? We had so much of it during our Noche Buena.

Mom decided not to be traditional this year by just ordering all our food. I had no complaints since we just moved and it's difficult to transfer all the kitchenware to our new house. I feel really bad about not being able to bake anything during the holidays though. There's no joy like the one you experience when you prepare your own dishes. Anyway, among the food we ordered, I have a few favorites that you might want to take note of.

Macarons. I think I actually squealed when I noticed that Tsokolate sells them. To my amazement, they were actually selling these babies during the Tzu Chi bazaar and I didn't even notice. Anyway, I'm happy since I was finally able to munch on these things after so many months. My favorite is the strawberry one. It's definitely a must-try, especially if the only time you've ever encountered macarons is when you scroll through your Tumblr dashboard. Luckily, they're only P24 a piece. That's really cheap compared to the prices outside of Zamboanga.

Another thing that I've noticed that's become a favorite among bakers is Red Velvet Cupcakes. I used to have doubts about this because I was under the impression that they would taste like food coloring. Thankfully, such thoughts have been dispelled the moment I tried the ones my Mom ordered from one of my godparents. They were perfectly moist and the cream cheese frosting just sealed the deal for me. I wish there  was a lot more frosting though, but I still loved it. I tend to be choosy when it comes to cupcakes and cakes in general, but my taste buds have given these cupcakes a stamp of approval.

If you're interested in ordering a batch, just let me know through the comments. ^_^

Moving on, I should also take this opportunity to thank the people who thought of me this Christmas. I actually got a couple of things that were at the top of my wishlist and I'm very thankful for them.

Thank you to N for finally giving me the chance to read The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. I've been hunting that book for months now, and like Looking for Alaska, it's always sold out. I'm really, really happy because it's the only John Green book that I lack and I absolutely love that guy. If you haven't picked up any of his books, I suggest you do. They easily get you hooked to the point that it's hard to put them down the moment you start reading.

Also, I'd like to thank Mom for giving me a new phone even if I just got one four-five months ago. She still bought me one even if Dad said that she was practically spoiling me by doing so. It's a Samsung Galaxy S Duos by the way. I had a few other choices, but I fell in love with this one the moment the guy at Expression Mobile Center let me hold it. It's been serving me well for almost a month now. Thank you Mom for giving in to the gadget-crazy person within me. :)

Happy holidays, everyone! I hope you also got the things you wanted for Christmas. :D

  1. I like the thought of not being traditional. I'mma suggest it to my mom for next year's Christmas Eve. Prepping for Christmas Eve is tiring and stressful. I love sweets! I'd be trying those Macarons soon! Btw, followed you on GFC and Bloglovin'. Wanna keep track of your posts. :)
