Of Friendship and Booze

Meet my drinking buddies.
I strive to be a "good girl" most of the time, but there's one thing I almost always can't resist: a night out with friends for some drinks. I used to not understand why some people would drown themselves in alcohol, but after going through such trying times while in college, I finally saw the good points of a nice bottle of cold beer.

Of course, I'd like to think that I never went overboard when it came to indulging in drinks. Actually, it's not that carefree feeling you get after a few bottles that makes the experience worthwhile - it's actually the people  you share it with. I can't begin to explain how wonderful it is to be able to laugh and chat with great people over drinks. It's, what some would say, therapeutic in a way. It makes you forget about the deadlines, your broken heart or a disappointing grade. The one thing that seals the deal is, of course, good food.

After tasting San Miguel's Apple flavored beer, I just fell in love. It's a treat for not-so-heavy drinkers, I guess. There's no weird aftertaste like most brews do. It's almost like chugging down a can of sparkling pineapple juice, actually. You won't even notice that it's actually an alcoholic drink. During a work night, my friends and I had to make an advertisement for a client. Before we started working, we were served a complimentary meal of beef tapa with egg on the side. It went really well with the flavored beer. We vowed to order a round the next time we would go out drinking. We even joked that if we felt up to it, maybe we could even use it as our chaser. We are weird people.

I'd also like to try it with a favorite of mine that should always be around when we're out drinking - a plate of  calamares. I'm sure that would make for a perfect night, indeed. :)

For a Nuffnang-sponsored contest, so please, don't be unnecessarily offended with the fact that I drink. I don't drink often. I'm not an alcoholic. Thanks.

  1. I never liked beer and I had an allergy to gin and punch! But I still enjoy even without the drinks! I used to say, "I got a natural high, so no need for any booze for me!

  2. In our family and in my husband's family, there is no booze served at all and no one also dares ask! So it is expected when you attend our parties! Interestingly, my brothers and their friends still wake up until 5 a.m. just enjoying their talks even without beer!

  4. Drinking was never in my timeline. I think it's because I grew up in the Middle East and alcohol was not allowed at all. If given the chance, I don't like to drink too. I'm a sodaholic kasi hahaha!

  6. I think drinking once in a while is good. Just don't overdo it. But for me, I really cannot drink because I have allergic reactions with alcohol. But I still go out with friends sometimes and taste their pulutan but I just take juices or coke. hehe

  7. I can count the beer bottles I've drank in my entire life with just the fingers on one hand. :P Not really a drinker but love the company of good drinkers. :) I get to eat all the pulutans while I listen to stories of drunken masters. LOL!

  8. I hope you win the contest. I wanted to join if only I was a beer drinker.

Just because you drink beer does not mean you are an alcoholic. Everything in moderation is fine. :D
